Bio:
Kenseth Armstead completed the BFA program at the Corcoran School of Art (1986 - 1990.) While still an undergraduate, he participated in the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture (Summer 1989.) After graduation, Armstead moved to New York City to attend the Whitney Museum of American Art Independent Study Program (1990 - 1991.)
Armsteads works have been exhibited at the Photographers Gallery in London, the Guggenheim Museum, the Whitney Museum of American art, the Berlin VideoFest and the MIT List Visual Arts Center, Boston. His videos and sculptures are included in the collections of the Pompidou Center (France), African American Museum (USA), Cinemedia (Australia) and numerous others. The Pollock-Krasner Foundation Grant, NYFA Video fellowship and the Camille Hanks Cosby Fellowship (Skowhegan) are among the list of the many grants won in support of Armsteads work. The New York Times, Art in America, The Boston Globe and The Washington Post, have positively reviewed his videos and sculptures.
Armstead has co-authored multi-media installations collaboratively with the art-band, X-PRZ, which he co-founded in 1991.
Armstead has lived and worked in New York City since 1990.
