Video Baby Grand Piano

The Video Baby Grand Piano is an audio/video performance instrument sculptured as a baby grand piano. It is both a successor to and convergence of ideas first explored by the artists via the Telepodium Missile Launcher and EBN VideoSampler. The VBGP features an integrated sound system and a pair of DJ turntables, each equipped with the EJ MIDI Turntable System and ScratchTV-- an optical needle, playback control vinyl, and interface for retrofitting turntables to output standard MIDI, with associated control software for scratching QuickTime movies. Computation services are delivered via a pair of high performance DV machines customized by DVLABS. Macintosh CPUs running VidVox VDMX RealTime Video Studio and GRID Intuitive Video Instrument are also supported. The VBGP is highly scalable, and can be configured as a high node count heterogeneous Beowulf-style supercluster. The Video Baby Grand Piano comes pre-loaded with a pair of DVDs, featuring EBN's danceable coverage of Gulf War I, along with a large collection of surprisingly illegal video music.
