Bio:
Elaine Miles was born in country Victoria, Australia in 1967. She began studying glass blowing at Monash University, Caulfield in 1994 and is currently a doctorate student in Fine Arts majoring in Glass. Elaine simultaneously lectures at Monash University and has taught International workshops at UrbanGlass in New York. Elaine has been a keen exhibitor of her artwork including two recent solo exhibitions of her Bowls and Boxes series at Space Furniture in Melbourne plus an International solo debut at Totem Design in Soho, New York, in 2003 amongst several group and collaborative exhibitions around Australia. She is currently represented by Gigantic Art Space in New York, and Quadrivium Gallery in Sydney Australia. Elaine is an early career artist who is a recipient of several grants and awards including a 3.5 year Australian Postgraduate Award Scholarship, International Travel and New Work Development grants from the Australia Council and The Ian Potter Foundation, and also International Exhibition Touring support from Arts Victoria. Elaine’s artistic endeavours have been reviewed in several magazines and newspapers including feature pages in The New York Sun, Belle, The Sydney Morning Herald, The Age Domain, and The Sun Home section.
