Bio:
I create sculptural works that combine technologies derived from 21st century robotics with industrial and apparel design styles as well as literal and metaphorical functions from other eras. Sometimes comic, sometimes menacing, these pieces comment on the rush to incorporate new technologies into every aspect of our surroundings. The look of the pieces refers to a wide range of sources, from hazardous material protective clothing to instruments appropriate for warfare in the Middle Ages. Subtly provocative, these pieces question social attitudes towards technology as well as assumptions about the physical qualities of the objects around us.
