Artist: Steve Cook
Exhibition: Personal Space
Date: June 16 2004 - July 31 2004
Curator: Lea Rekow
Bio:
The images in this show are the progression of Cook's 'Alternity' series. Steve Cook's original photo of Andy Warhol is remixed by the artist to allow Andy some personal space in a fictitious home environment. 'Summer's End' depicts an eerie separate world in close proximity to the artist's own childhood experience. And 'The Proposition' sees Cook fuse his own photography with antique carte de visites, montaging a photograph from London's punk era with several fin de siecle images scoured from his travels.

From an old converted church in London's East End, Steve Cook works with digital media and photography. With clients such as DC Comics, Legas Delaney and Virgin Records, he's immersed in a graphic background with subjects such as Beth Orton, William 0rbit, Andy Warhol and Freddie Mercury. He has exhibited internationally in New York City and in London at the Institute of Contemporary Arts and The Photographer's Gallery.
