Artist: Mee
Exhibition: Personal Space
Date: June 16 2004 - July 31 2004
Curator: Lea Rekow
Bio:
Best known for her unmistakable electric strings for Brett Anderson, Asian Dub Foundation, A3, Peter Sellars and a host of other fine artists, Mee has collaborated with many of the top bands and directors in the States and the UK. Born and bred in London, England, she studied at the Royal College of Music before escaping to pursue her love of all things electronic, experimental, acoustic, rock and dance. Personal Space is one essential element for Mee's creativity (in addition to violins and a studio). Her fragile vocals and strings speak of an artist alone with her thoughts and feelings. The electronics serving to illuminate a solitary shadow.

It's not a lonely space - on the contrary, the simplicity underlying These tracks confirms the very human experience of pleasure alone. The feeling of being all at one. An unbearable desire for communion rubbing shoulders with the need for space.

What happens when space is breached? When personal experience is shared?
