Bio:
The Ice Pick investigates the disenfranchisement pertinent to the majority of peoples of the African Diaspora sighting as points of reference the heritage and culture of African hair and the 1960s Black Power movements. The accompanying soundscape titled The Detanglement Suite Part 1 is comprised of tangled African hair being combed and the sound of the crystal comb. English- born Satch Hoyt has shown his work throughout the world including exhibitions at the Tate Liverpool Biennial, the Brooklyn Museum, the Walker Art Center, and the New Museum of Contemporary Art.
