Bio:
Lionel Bawden was born in 1974 in Sydney, Australia, where he currently lives and works. Bawden completed his B.A. Honours at Canberra School of Art, Australian National University in 1997, including six months study at The China National Academy of Fine Art, Hangzhou during 1995. In late 2003 Bawden was the recipient of the Dunedin Public Art Gallery Creative New Zealand artist residency, producing his solo exhibition 'the spring tune'. In 2004 Bawden wasthe winner of the ABN Amro emerging Artist award, Sydney and in late 2005 he undertook a 3 month residency at RedGate Gallery Beijing.
Bawden's solo exhibitions include 'esque- thoughts brought forth by our fingers' 2002 and 'the monsters' 2004 both GRANTPIRRIE Gallery, Sydney. Major group exhibitons include the '2001 National Sculpture Prize
