Bio:
David Sequeira was born in 1966 in New Delhi, India. In 1970 he moved with his family to Melbourne, Australia. He currently lives and works in Canberra, Australia. Sequeira’s studies include a Bachelor of Education from the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology; studies in Italian painting 1200-1600 and a Post Graduate Diploma in Art Curatorial Studies from the University of Melbourne. Sequeira’s art practice includes painting, sculpture, installation, curatorship, writing; business development and art museum consultancy.

Specializing in art museum education, Sequeira has worked in a range of museums including the National Gallery of Australia and the National Portrait Gallery of Australia. Sequeira’s residency projects include the Australia Council for the Arts studio residency in Paris, France; Asialink residency, Moenjodaro, Pakistan; artist in residence, University of Texas, Dallas, USA; artist in residence, Curtin University of Technology Perth, Australia; artist in residence, The Jam Factory glass studio, Adelaide, Australia.

Sequeira’s solo exhibitions include ‘David Sequeira Projects’ at the Art Gallery of New South Wales, Sydney, Australia 2001; ‘Seeing Things’, Gallery Barry Keldoulis, Sydney 2004 and ‘Now is a Gift’, Southside Gallery Dallas, Texas, USA 2004. This October, Curtin University Gallery, Perth Australia will present a major survey of Sequeira’s work over the last 10 years. This exhibition will tour to the University of Queensland Art Museum in 2007. Significant group shows featuring Sequeira’s work include ‘The possibilities of portraiture’, National Portrait Gallery, Canberra 1999; ‘Primavera’, Museum of Contemporary Art, Sydney, Australia 2000; ‘Southside’, The Mac Contemporary, Dallas, Texas, USA and ‘The color of music’ Central Gallery, Adelaide, Australia 2006. 'The Roving Eye' at Gigantic ArtSpace is Sequeira’s first showing in New York.
