 The Foreign Legion by Pablo Helguera is an official selection for Performa 05 the First Biennial of Visual Performance Art in New York.

The performance will be held at at the LMCC: 15 Nassau, Corner of Pine Street What do the last days of Hermann Rorschach, operatic verismo, and Saint Anthony the Abbott have in common? This unconventional one-act opera written by Pablo Helguera intertwines live critique with thematic counterpoints and juxtapositions that road on the edge of truth and irony. The work is part of The Imaginary Forum of Mental Sculpture, an annual public program designed to bridge the interstice between interpretive discussion and art. Helguera works in a variety of media in which he often incorporates scripted fiction, documentary narrative, hermetic thought, the lecture format, and music. His works embrace the contemporary ambiguous threshold between reality and fiction, often playing with the viewer's expectations and commenting on our cultural, historical and social surroundings. He has performed at the Museum of Modern Art, New York, Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago, and the RCA in London, amongst many others, as well as in nearly 20 countries worldwide.
